In development
BreatheFree is in development for Android first. It is not available to download yet.
Your next breath can be different.
Small steps, practical support, and no judgment — whenever you are ready. BreatheFree supports people through quitting smoking, from the first honest look at a habit to the craving that arrives at 11pm on a Tuesday.
- Help when cravings hitOne tap, no typing
- Progress that staysA slip never erases your wins

What it does
Four things, each built for the moment it is needed.
Craving rescue
One tap opens immediate, one-handed help. Rate the craving, get one recommended tool, run it, then recheck.

A plan you build
Choose a quit-date or gradual-reduction path, pick a realistic date, write down your own reasons, and name one supporter with a phrase they will actually understand.

Progress without punishment
Smoke-free time, cigarettes avoided, money saved, and which coping tool has helped most. A slip is recorded as an event in the history, never as a reset to zero.

A route to a person
Quitlines in English and Spanish, your named supporter, a quit coach, and your care team. Nothing is sent anywhere until you preview it and confirm.

Safeguards
The boundaries we designed in first.
A tool that touches someone's health has to be careful about what it claims and what it exposes. These constraints came before the features.
Sensitive notifications off by default
A lock screen shows "You have a BreatheFree reminder" — not your quit status or your medication.
Education, never prescribing
The medication centre explains options and lets you record your own plan. It never selects a medicine or changes a dose.
Reports, not measurements
Craving ratings describe how someone felt. The app is explicit that these are self-reports, not clinical measurements.
Export and deletion
Your data can be exported and deleted, with the deletion actually completed rather than merely hidden.
In design · Unplug
The phone is often the thing standing next to the habit.
Unplug is a second module inside BreatheFree, for the screen habits that sit alongside a quit attempt — the scroll at 11pm, the app opened before the thought finishes. Twelve screens are built, and so is the layer underneath them that does the pausing. It is not available: it has never run on anyone's real phone, and on iPhone it cannot until Apple grants us the permission that makes it possible.
Designed around what a phone will admit
On iPhone, an app cannot be told which apps you are using. It can pause them, and that is all. So the reports are built to that limit on both platforms, rather than showing an iPhone user less and calling it the same product. An intercept that asks, not scolds
When you open something you asked us to slow down, you get a pause, your own reason back in your own words, and a way through it. A breath, a sentence typed out, or a short puzzle — enough friction to interrupt a reflex.Quick to tighten, slow to loosen
Raising a limit takes one tap. Lowering one costs something every time: a wait of a day if you are on your own, or a conversation with your clinician or coach if you are not.Distress reaches a qualified person
If the same difficult feeling keeps coming up, that never comes to rest with a non-clinical coach. Where it goes instead is written down per programme by clinicians, not decided by the app.
What is still missing
The whole experience
All 28 screens, in order.
Every screen in BreatheFree has been designed and approved. Walk through the full journey — welcome, onboarding, quit plan, daily support, craving rescue, quit day, resources and account.
